Dear 3 Heroians,
This Thursday, we will be conducting a pre-performance lesson. I would like you to visit some of the following websites to read up and find out more on Grimm Brothers and their Tales, if you are not already familiar with them.
The websites are
http://www.nationalgeographic.com/grimm/
http://www.thegrimmtales.com/
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~spok/grimmtmp/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grimm's_Fairy_Tales
The Tales that I like you to be familiar with are
1.) The Musicians of Bremen,
2.) Ashputtel (Cinderella)
3.) The Mouse
4.) the Bird and the Sausage
5.) The Golden Goose
6.) The Hare and the Hedgehog
7.) Hansel and Gretel and the Magic Table
8.) the Gold-Donkey and the Cudgel in the Sack
(most of us are familiar with no. 2 Cinderella, as such there is no real necessity to read it)
This Thursday, 21 July, come to class with one of the above tales. Discuss among your group members, who is to bring which tale to class. We will be 'doing' some storytelling!
Yes, storytelling on Thursday, the 3H's way, before you watch SRT's The Young Co.'s way of doing it (by the way, the performance is put up by young people, people of your age group).
This will better prepare you to appreciate and critique the performance.
